Caribbean Stud Poker 101

There are over a hundred variations of the Classic Poker game. Poker is regarded as the most popular card game in history. Poker and its variations is also the most played table betting games in casino history. The Caribbean Stud Poker evolved from the Five-Card Stud Poker. Through the years, Caribbean Stud Poker gained popularity among the tens of Poker games played on betting tables. Casinos also have separate tables for this Poker variation as Caribbean Stud Poker gained more player patrons as years passed.

The structure of other Poker games is also used in Caribbean Stud Poker. Caribbean Stud Poker is started by dropping the bets at the center of the table. This is termed as a progressive jackpot and many casinos nowadays have this. This progressive jackpot in Caribbean Stud Poker usually is used to pay for players who have royal flush or straight flush, full house or four of a kind. The amount of money the players receive in Caribbean Stud Poker depends on the value of the hand that they have. Payout in Caribbean Stud Poker varies with the type of card combination that the player has.

In Caribbean Stud Poker, the dealer (the one who gives the cards and usually works for the casino) gives five face-down cards each to the players. The dealer also receives five cards but the last card is shown. All cards in Caribbean Stud Poker are taken from a deck of shuffled cards on the table. After the cards have been distributed, the players must then decide if they're going to bet or fold. Players bet if they have good card combinations like a Royal Flush or a Straight. In Caribbean Stud Poker, players fold if no good combination comes out from his cards. If the player chooses to bet, he doubles the original bet he made and those who fold lose their wagers automatically.

The only time that the dealer shows his four other cards in Caribbean Stud Poker is when all other players have made their game wagers or if they have folded. The dealer also collects the money from the players who have folded. Only after these steps that the dealer can show their combinations to the players. The catch in Caribbean Stud Poker is that the dealer must always have a combination of Ace and King or Higher. In the absence of a king from any suit, even with an Ace, the other player wins the poker game.

The payout in Caribbean Stud Poker is based on casino rules. If dealers win in the Caribbean Stud Poker, they collect all the bets. Surely, this poker variation is one of the best to play in terms of winning chances for first time players.
